In January 2024, San Luis Potosí emerged as a key driver of industrial growth in Mexico, according to the Monthly Indicator of Industrial Activity by State (IMAIEF) released by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI). The state experienced a 10.2% increase, making it the second-highest in growth, surpassing states like Querétaro, Nuevo León, and Aguascalientes, and trailing only behind Oaxaca. 

The state’s Secretariat of Economic Development (SEDECO) highlighted in a statement that, based on seasonally adjusted INEGI indicators, San Luis Potosí not only excelled in monthly industrial activity growth but also in the contribution of manufacturing industries at the national level. There was a real percentage variation of 15.4% compared to January 2023, contributing 0.63 to the total real sector variation. 

SEDECO attributes these impressive figures to the state’s economic policies aimed at establishing it as a significant industrial and service hub. These policies focus on attracting both national and international investments, alongside historic investments in infrastructure and support programs for entrepreneurship and business development. 

INEGI’s monthly indicators confirm a positive trend in industrial activity growth over the past two years, driven by investments in strategic sectors such as automotive, tourism, and infrastructure development. With this performance, San Luis Potosí positions itself as a key player on Mexico’s industrial map, showing potential for sustained growth in the coming months.
