Guanajuato Drives Economic Growth with an Increase in Exports I 27 November 2024
November 27, 2024

From January to September 2024, Guanajuato achieved a record of $29.9 billion in exports, representing a 14.39% growth compared to the same period last year. This result solidifies the state’s position as the fifth-largest exporter in Mexico, standing out as the leading non-border state exporter.

Exports have a positive impact on the local economy, directly benefiting over 230,000 Guanajuato families, thanks to the growth of key sectors such as manufacturing. A total of 37 municipalities are involved in exports, with 1,861 companies spread across cities like León, Silao, Salamanca, and Celaya, among others.

The industrial sector leads exports, accounting for 90.3% of the total, followed by the agro-food sector at 6.4%. Other sectors such as fashion, construction, and handicrafts also contribute to growth, though to a lesser extent. Furthermore, 80% of the exporting companies in Guanajuato are micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MIPYMES), highlighting the dynamism of these businesses in the global market.

Guanajuato continues to demonstrate its potential as a growth engine, not only at the national level but also on the global stage, thanks to its solid infrastructure and the promotion of local businesses’ internationalization.
