Tamaulipas’ economy is going through a period of outstanding transformation and growth, firmly positioning itself among the most dynamic and attractive markets in the country. According to the most recent indicators, the state recorded an annual economic growth of 5.2% in the first quarter, representing the second-largest advance nationwide and widely surpassing the country’s general average. This result is not an isolated event, but the culmination of a solid recovery trend that places the state in fourth place nationally for its average annual growth, reflecting a radical shift in pace that projects it as a key benchmark for industrial and commercial development.
This economic momentum is backed by the performance of its productive sectors, with secondary and industrial activities particularly standing out by showing vigorous progress. The state’s export and manufacturing infrastructure remains one of its strongest pillars, housing a consolidated network of more than 350 specialized establishments operating under high-efficiency international schemes. Likewise, the state stands out by leading strategic sectors such as the chemical industry, demonstrating a technical and operational capacity capable of competing in the most demanding markets.
One of the main attractions explaining this economic moment is its infrastructure and strategic geographic position, making it the premier logistical epicenter for cross-border trade. Tamaulipas concentrates 42.1% of highway commercial flow and 49% of railway movement toward the United States, capturing top national positions in both communication routes. Coupled with a constantly expanding network of international crossings, port projects, and railway corridors, the region offers an unrivaled ecosystem that guarantees agility, connectivity, and an extremely favorable environment for attracting new investments and strengthening competitiveness in Mexico.
